Dennis Miller
It has been said that Dennis Miller is “One of the premiere comedy talents in America today…” While others are blunt assessing Miller’s comedic stature, Dennis himself makes a virtue of understatement, but there is nothing low key about his career.
Miller is a five-time Emmy award winner for his critically acclaimed half-hour, live talk show “Dennis Miller Live” which had a nine year run on HBO. He also wrote and starred in the Emmy-nominated cable comedy special “Raw Feed”, his sixth such special. He was also the host and executive producer of CNBC’s “Dennis Miller”, a topical interview talk show featuring reasoned discourse, opinion and humor. Additionally, Miller has appeared on many politically oriented television talk shows.
On his HBO program, Miller became known for his self-described “rants” on various political issues. These monologues always began with the catch phrase “Now I don’t want to get off on a rant here…” and ended with the phrase “Of course, that’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.” Miller also used these monologues as a basis for a series of audio books and hardcover books released during the run of the show, starting with 1996’s The Rants to 2002’s The Rant Zone. The Rants and The Rant Zone as well as Miller’s other titles, I Rant Therefore I Am and Ranting Again, have all been New York Times best sellers.
For two seasons beginning in 2000, Miller called the plays alongside Al Michaels and NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts on ABC’s “Monday Night Football.”
By 2007, Miller was ready to make the move to radio. Citing his hometown of Pittsburg, the birthplace of broadcast radio, as an inspiration for his radio show, Miller said “I always knew I would try radio and right now seems like the perfect time. In a world where the stakes are high, the medium is a nice blend of the comfortable and the provocative.” The 3-hour program will showcase Miller’s unique take on the day’s topics with comedy and satire and will include listener calls and high profile guest interviews.
